The reveal is this: Everyone in Victory is living in a simulation designed by Frank, who in our real (present-day) world is an incel-like cult leader who has brainwashed men to pay him to live in a virtual-reality simulation of the 1950s.

Don't Worry Darling is all about showcasing the way in which women are trapped in a world that doesn't support them, believe them, or wish to see them have control or power. Bunny and Shelley both, in their own ways, uphold systemic inequality because it benefits them.

Once Jack has Alice captive, he straps her to the bed and uses a futuristic technology to upload her into the Victory simulation. Jack uses this same technology to voluntarily go inside the simulation.

In one scene sort of early in the movie, Alice is cooking, as always, and notices that the eggs she's using are empty. This is because she decided to make deviled eggs last minute instead of making tuna, and because it wasn't in the usual routine of eggs for breakfast, the eggs were empty when she crushed them.

How does Don't Worry Darling end? In a fit of shock and fury, Alice kills Jack—which apparently also kills him in the real world. (Who knows how or why?) She takes off toward the in-simulation Victory headquarters, where the husbands congregate every day to exit the VR and re-enter reality.

Was the plane crash in Don't Worry Darling real? No. Like Alice's visions of hollow eggshells and the house closing in on her, the red plane crashing into the mountain seems to be her brain trying to alert her to danger. Notably, it's the plane that pinpoints where the off-limits headquarters are.

The movie's earthquakes happen throughout the film's story, but they are always played off as a sign of what the Victory Project is up to and something that is not an issue for Don't Worry Darling's town. Understandably, this leads to speculation that weaponry could be what the men are working on.

Frank's wife, Shelley (Gemma Chan), stabbed him to death while he was still inside the Victory Project, angry at how he failed to stop Alice from getting away. As a consequence, he would die in the real world, too, allowing her to fully take over the operation.

Every day the town experiences earthquake-like rumblings from the Victory headquarters, but the women aren't privy to what's going on. Jack is a "technical engineer" and the men are working on the "development of progressive materials" — whatever that means.

The main antagonists of Don't Worry Darling are insecure men who want to control women, their careers, and their bodies. Jack doesn't feel like he's taking care of Alice—so he takes her as his prisoner.

Why did Shelley stab Frank? As Frank loses control of the situation and Alice makes her escape, Shelley stabs her husband with a knife. As she stabs him, she says “It's my turn now.” This hints at Shelley taking over his role as leader of the simulation.

It is also confirmed in the original ending that Alice got out of the simulation. Instead, Don't Worry Darling ends with a cliffhanger of Alice breathing off-screen, but it's never confirmed if she's out or back in, leaving the audience in the dark and not nearly as satisfied at the outcome.
