Destiny 2 Arena: Breach Executable guide - how to maximize your loot (2024)

With a new Season (ahem, Episode) in Destiny 2, comes a new Seasonal Activity. Breach Executable has Guardians working with Failsafe to determine the cause for the Vex’s unusual behavior. Rather than be a static activity, there’s a little variety to be had, including reward potential. Here’s a breakdown of each encounter and how to maximize your loot.

There’s a disappointing lack of black leather in the Vex Matrix

The underlying task in each of Breach Executable’s activities is to collect Extracted Data and turn it in at the collection point once the Data Collection meter is full. The faster you fill the activity meter, the quicker you can move to the next activity.

Extracted Data looks like Vex data cubes and is both a competitive and shared resource. When a gaggle of cubes appears, any player may pick them up, but they are not shared amongst each player’s meter. Yet, once a player turns in their Extracted Data, the rewards are available to the entire fireteam.

Each of the sub-objectives is randomized and will be pulled from the pool with no real rhyme or reason. You’ll encounter two sub-objectives and a boss fight in each Breach Executable run.

Capture and siphon Radiolaria Geysers

Within one of Nessus’ many valleys are a series of Radiolaria Geysers. The concept is straightforward: harvest resources, deposit them, and survive.

  • Defeat the enemies guarding the geysers
  • Deploy your Ghost at the Vex Conflux to hack it
  • Stand atop the three geysers to secure the Extracted Data
    • Be mindful that you don’t stand on the geyser when it blows

Survive the Vex counterattack

The Vex are none too happy with your meddling in their affairs. Cull their numbers and collect the Extracted Data. The Vex Commanders are your priority targets as they have the highest probability of dropping the luminescent cubes.

Redirect the Vex Signal

Spread throughout the area will be Vex portals and Minotaurs. Take down the Minotaurs, collect their parts, and use said parts to shoot the portals and transmit the signal to the floating Vex cubes. Much like in this Episode’s introductory mission, positioning is key, so move around to find the right angle.

Destroy the Gestating Radiolaria Pods

Hovering above the area will be several purple pods that are immune to damage. Standing in one of the marked circles will make the impossible possible. Destroying the pods will drop the Extracted Data we’re after. Collect it, deposit it, rinse, and repeat.

Between activities

There’s some traveling to do between the three phases, which means ample opportunity to collect Radiolite samples. These will be marked on your HUD and depositing them at the end of the run or in the H.E.L.M. will give additional rewards.

The bonuses don’t stop there. Tracking down and activating the piston in each run will drive more Radiolite samples to the surface. The pistons are unfortunately tricky to find and rushing to the next encounter will pull all fireteam members forward. So, keep an eye out for the Vex column with the moving golden pistons on the bottom, and give it a good smack with your hammer.

Boss – The Choral Minds

I hope you’re a fan of Vex Hydras because this fight is chock-full of them. I highly recommend running Anti-Barrier (pulse rifles and SMGs for this Episode) or weapons that have it intrinsically, like Wish-Ender. This will make the fight far less annoying as you won’t have to wait for openings to attack.

The first wave requires the fireteam to destroy several, normal-sized, Hydras. Once they’re dealt with, Kitharodes will appear and the second phase will begin. Destroy the Vex node to unleash the second Kitharodes and find some cover. These floating tanks hit harder than an AC-130.

Once the Kitharodes twins have been forcefully defragmented, another large Hydra, Rhapsoidos, will appear. As if that weren’t bad enough, there will be several Vex Cyclops that are fond of respawning far too frequently. Do your best to keep them destroyed and put pressure on this final Hydra.

Boss – Vire, Shard of Contempt

Rather than Vex, a Tormentor has stepped in as the final boss. Accompanying it will be a contingent of Shadow Legion forces. The supporting cast isn’t much of an issue until the Psionic Sisters of the Eclipse appear. There are four of these bubble Psions, one in each corner. Get up close and personal to draw Vire back out and finish the fight.
