Since 2019, we've been offering Aloha Pokē Co. franchise opportunities and have opened 20 locations in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and DC, with many more to follow in the years to come.

Poke is Packed With Protein. Protein is used to build and repair tissues and muscles in the body, making them an essential part of any diet. Poke is packed with protein, containing a whopping 24 grams of protein in just 4 ozs of the fish.

Poke can be eaten as is, but it's typically served in a poke bowl with other ingredients — like rice, vegetables, and hot sauce.

What is Hawaiian Poke (Aloha Poke)? It's a delicious, easy-to-make appetizer or main course traditionally made with ahi tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, scallions, and - of course - many variations thereof. Poke is Hawaiian for "to slice" or "to cut crosswise." In this case, it means diced raw fish.

However, it's best to limit or eliminate raw fish from your diet. Consuming raw or partially cooked seafood can increase your risk of exposure to bacteria, parasites, and pollutants that can make you sick.

Poke is a traditional Hawaiian dish and sushi originates in Japan. Hawaiian food takes a lot of influence from Japanese food, but poke is Hawaiian. Traditionally, poke is made from ahi tuna or octopus (tako) that has been roughly cut into bite sized pieces and marinated with whatever was on hand.

Should a poke bowl be hot or cold? Poke is traditionally served cold. Some recipes include warm ingredients such as cooked tofu or seared tuna, but if we're sticking with the strictly traditional Hawaiian poke bowls, they are served cold.
