MapleStory Inner Ability is a system that allows your characters to gain extra stats much like the Potential System. Players unlock the Inner Ability system from level 50 and can rank up their Inner Ability to a max rank of Legendary, where the best stats are available. Instead of using Potential Cubes, the Inner Ability system uses Honor Points, which are acquired from a number of different ways in MapleStory. This guide will take a look at the Inner Ability system and look at all the ways you can use it to benefit your characters.

Inner Ability Overview

From level 50, every character can unlock the Inner Ability system. You can find it from your character's stat page by pressing the Detail button to reveal detailed stats. A new character will see the Inner Ability system locked, but from level 50 a quest called The Eye Opener will appear in your Light bulb in the left-hand navigation window.

You have a total 3 lines you can unlock. Every player starts out at the Rare Ability rank, but there are more ranks:

  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Unique
  • Legendary

In order to rank up, players must use the Reset button to reroll their Inner Ability stats. A single reset will cost 100 Honor EXP points. Resetting your Inner Ability will cause all 3 lines to get new stats and also has the chance to Rank Up or Rank Down your Inner Ability. You cannot go lower than Rare rank or higher than Legendary.

In order to prevent ranking down, you can "Lock" your Inner Ability. When locked, this will prevent the ability from ranking up or ranking down but it will also cost you more Honor EXP points.

You can use Miracle Circulators from the Cash Shop to attempt to Rank Up without the chance of it ranking down. These cost 1,900 NX in Regular Worlds and 19,000,000 mesos in Reboot Worlds.

The most confusing aspect of Inner Ability is what type of lines you can get.

Only the first line of your Inner Ability will get the stat corresponding to it's rank.

The second and third lines are able to get lower-rank lines with a max of Unique. They cannot get higher than the current Inner Ability rank.

For example, if you had a Unique rank Inner Ability, your 1st line will have Unique lines, your 2nd and 3rd lines will get lines between Epic and Rare.

Miracle Circulators will always give the max value for each possible line. So if you were looking to get 20% boss damage at Legendary, rerolling it with honor EXP can give 15-20% range, whereas a Miracle Circulator will always give 20%. It will also give max lines on 2nd and third, so if you are hunting for the highest possible lines, it's always best to first get your 2nd and 3rd lines maxed via Miracle Circulators and then reroll using honor EXP for your 1st line due to the Reroll costs of locking 1 and 2 lines.

Inner Ability Events

Events are a great way to maximize your Inner Ability Honor EXP and also take advantage of discounts on Miracle Cirulators. These events tend to happen at least once a year, with some happening several times.

Sunny Sunday Events

As part of MapleStory Patch Notes, the Sunny Sunday events are always listed ahead of time. This allows you to plan and prepare for a mass re-rolling of your Inner Ability. These events usually give 50% off rerolls, which make it the perfect time to try and roll for your perfect lines. Remember, that rerolling a Legendary locked rank can cost over 10K Honor EXP, with this event you get it down to 5K per reroll.

Miracle Circulators Discount

Miracle Circulators are Cash Shop items. They are sold in both Reboot and Regular worlds and when Nexon announces a discount, it usually applies to both. In normal words, a Miracle Circulator costs 1,900 NX and in Reboot Worlds they cost 19,000,000 Mesos.

Events

Generally, you can buy both Medals Of Honor and Miracle Circulators from Event Shops. These events tend to happen quite regularly, so making sure you're playing during these times can be a great way to score some easy Honor EXP. They are usually limited in quantity, so you'll have to choose carefully with how many you want to acquire.

Changelog

18/03/2021 - Avoidability was removed from Inner Ability options by Nexon in the maintenance patch.
