Quarterback Jacoby Brissett will get his first playing time in a game for the Browns when they take on the Chicago Bears in the preseason finale Saturday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said most of the starters will play against the Bears.
That means fans could get their first glimpses of new wide receiver Amari Cooper, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, defensive backs Greg Newsome II and Denzel Ward and perhaps Myles Garrett, who was noncommittal when asked if he would play against the Bears.
It wouldn't be a surprise is Chubb and Hunt join tackle Jack Conklin as starters who won't play.
The Browns defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-13 and lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 21-20 in their first two preseason games and will have two more weeks of practice before opening the regular season on the road against Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 11.
Final: Chicago Bears 21, Cleveland Browns 20
Browns QB Josh Rosen states his case
After the Browns recover a fumble, backup Josh Rosen made his case for a roster spot, leading a 3-play, 10-yard drive capped by Rosen's sneak. The two-point attempt fails. Bears lead the Browns 21-20.
Browns DE Chris Odom is down
Chris Odom, the USFL defensive player of the year who the team signed just after the start of training camp, is carted off the field after going down with what appeared to be an injury to his left leg.
Browns score on Joshua Dobbs TD pass
Browns backup QB Joshua Dobbs finds TE Miller Forristall on a 6-yard pass. On the 2-point conversion, he scrambles for the two points to cut the Bears lead to 21-14 with 14:47 left in the game.
After the third quarter, Chicago Bears 21, Cleveland Browns 6
Yes, there is a reason for no update: with backups playing there isn't a lot of continuity or rhythm. Both teams are struggling offensively. Thus no third quarter scoring. It happens.
Halftime: Chicago Bears 21, Cleveland Browns 6
The legend of Browns K Cade York begins
Cade York hits on a 57-yard field goal to put the Browns on the board. He would later connect on a 46-yarder.
Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields connect on his third TD pass
Bears QB Justin Fields may remember that beating he took against the Browns last year - even if it is a preseason game. He's connected on his third TD of the first half - this one 24-yards to tight end Cole Kmet to give the Bears a 21-0 lead.
Browns RG Wyatt Teller leaves with knee injury
Guard Wyatt Teller left the game with a knee injury. His return is questionable.
Justin Fields throws second TD pass
Bears QB Justin Field connects with WR Dante Pettis, who beat Browns CB Greedy Williams, on a 12-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-0 lead.
Cade York getting his shots; Chicago leads 7-0
Could be Kevin Stefanski allowing kicker Cade York to get used to FirstEnergy Stadium, but he misses left on a 58-yard attempt. There's not been such interest in a kicker in Cleveland since Phil Dawson. At the end of the first quarter, Chicago leads 7-0.
Browns S Grant Delpit is out
Browns safety Grant Delpit leaves the game with a hip injury. His return is questionable.
Chicago strikes first, on 22-yard TD pass
Chicago Bears QB and former Ohio State Buckeye Justin Fields finds Ryan Griffin for a 22-yard TD pass. Extra point is good. Bears were aided by two defensive penalties on the 7-play, 80-yard drive. Chicago leads 7-0.
