Simcoe Fishing Adventures will close our business on Lake Simcoe effective June 2011. We have decided to purchase a small cottage resort in the Bancroft, Ontario area. Effective June 15, 2011 will be located on Lake Weslemkoon approximately 30 mins south east of the town of Bancroft. This beautiful lake is one of the top 10 bass lakes in Canada. It has a 61 mile perimiter and offers bass, perch, lake trout, rainbow trout and splake. It is also surrounded by many smaller lakes offering pickerel.

Our small resort offers housekeeping cottages that are very nicely done! We can accommodate groups of 2-4 and our large cottage will sleep 8-10. We have put up a new website for the resort and welcome you to check us out at HIDDEN COVE COTTAGE RESORT or to give us a call at 613-474-3284.

We hope that you will also see this as a new adventure and book a visit with us. The cottages are 4 season and we will operate in summer, fall and winter. Come and stay with us in the summer for excellent fishing, join us in the fall for hunting or to enjoy the ATV trails, or book a new ice fishing adventure!
We sincerely thank you for your business and hope to see you in our new beautiful surroundings! Whitey and Wifey

As you can see from the video we had some of our return clients up from Michigan with us today. Mike and group are a great bunch of guys and we are happy that they have had a productive trip! With the deep freeze the ice continues to get better, although the snow on top makes it for a bit of tough going. Lots of activity on the bay this weekend with sledders and kite boarders and of course fishermen! Our camp has been pretty productive since we moved out to 20 FOW after Xmas. No slushy spots or pressure cracks in the area that we are working. Come on out and see us for your fishing adventure! Tight lines all and be safe!

We moved the whole camp a little further north up Cooks Bay, and since the move the perching has been consistently good since Jan 10/11. As you can see from the video, our guests today were quite happy with their catches. This always makes us happy as well as we try hard to find the fish for our clients. The ice is now 12″ thick as you can see in the video. There is snow cover on the top of the ice which makes it easy going for ATV’s and Sleds. As with most fishing operators we try and keep the noise in the camp to a minimum as to not spook the fish. Cooks Bay is a shallow bay, although we are currently at 20 FOW. As it is fairly shallow, the vibrations and noise from sleds can at times disrupt the fishing. We ask all sledders to enjoy themselves but to respect the boundaries of our camp and motor up the lake from a distance away. We spoke to some of the sledders buzzing close to the camp and were surprised to note that they really didn’t know that their proximity might disrupt the fishing! I guess you learn as you go! We have some hut rentals available for Sunday Jan 16th so give us a call…hopefully our hot spot will last! Stay Safe! Whitey

We had a few customers out on Cooks Bay today that did extremely well! It’s nice to see smiling faces due to a great fishing experience. As the video shows, both groups did very well with catching perch and one lady even brought up a nice pike! Conditions are 10 inches of good black ice where we are, with snow cover on top. Perfect conditions for either ATV or snow machine. Have a look at the video and come out for your adventure!

Just to let everyone know that Cooks Bay, Lake Simcoe now has 10 inches of good ice where our huts are set up. Although many parts of the “big lake” are still either open, or just beginning to freeze, people should know that you can now fish Cooks Bay. It is important to note that although you may hear news reports about “lake simcoe” and are asked to stay off the ice, the fact is that Lake Simcoe is a huge lake. As with most lakes that have small bays such as Cooks Bay, we are typically the first to freeze up and get fishing. It may take the bigger parts of the lake a few more weeks to have fishable ice. As of now, no one should be on Cooks Bay with a car or truck, ATV’s or skidoos are the way to travel. As you can see from the video, we are measuring ice thickness as we go, and are at 10 inches. Since the end of December we have been on the perch grounds with reports of some good days and some mediocre days of fishing. We are hoping for a productive weekend and are taking reservations for Jan 8 and 9th (Saturday/Sunday). Give us a call and lets go fishing! We will report the weekend results on Sunday.
