Jan 31, Cooks Bay “Ice Quake” Lake Simcoe
We felt it all the way down to Cooks Bay. Shook everything. We are talking about the ice sheet on Lake Simcoe growing, expanding, all good. That means we are making ice. When this happens you get pressure cracks, some are flat, others will pile up 2-4 ft high and some times more. Ice is slick right now, that will change according to the weather man. Expect the worst if you are going out tomorrow.Make sure to take a GPS, a friend and dress accordingly, and know the area you are heading out to. We will be working tomorrow as usual. Parking on ice at Gleenwoods Ave, Keswick. Ice thickness on Coooks, the leanest 8 in. , meanest mostly on east side 10-to 12 in. Bite was poor to-day, but tomorrow is another day. As always just remember ice is never really “safe”, wind and currents can work wonders, never go out alone. Always have fun…………………..Whitey

Hello, I just wanted to thank you for your reports. My husband heads over to simcoe at least 3 times a year we’re from michigan I get over just once, I read your reports all the time before he goes. We have never meet you or your wife but I can tell both of you are first class people, yes you are in business to make money but you also care about the saftey of everyone out there. My husband says a fisherman will always help another fisherman out, and thats what you guys do. I hope to stay at your bed and breakfast and go out with you sometime soon, hopefully this season but timing is everything
anyways thanks again for all you do
